Week 191 - Masculine

Good Morning!

Today is Saturday and that means another fabulous Challenge from the Allsorts gang.  This week it is Catherine's first Challenge and she has chosen very well ....................

MASCULINE

We have 2 brilliant sponsors this week - and they are:

Digi Darla
http://www.digidarladesigns.com/

and

The Craft Barn.
http://www.thecraftbarn.co.uk/

Thankyou to you both for your help with the Challenge this week.

My offering uses a design from Digi Darla which has kindly allowed the Design Team to use an image of their choice.

The image that I have used is from the Masculine section and is called mountain biker.
I have used Pro-Markers to colour my image and then distressed the edge with Frayed Burlap.  I have used the Spellbinders Cogs die to cut the biker out and I have used the other cogs to embellish the card further.
The background paper is a My Minds Eye 12" x 12" paper.  I have cut a piece of Kraft card and stamped it with a Cogs stamp that I found in my draw.  I have really enjoyed making this design and I hope that you like it too.

Please pop over to the Allsorts Challenge Blog  a have a look at their stunning designs.

Thankyou so much for popping by and hope to see you later when I post some more of the Spellbinder samples.

Bye for now

  1. Morning Jo,

So pleased to have found your blog. I've watched and recorded all your shows and enjoyed all the inspiring hints and tips. This card is a work of art! Absolutely fantastic Jo! I find it really difficult to make masculine cards so this is truly inspiring. Thank you.
How did you do the tread bit around the cut out? It really makes the 3D effect stand out.

  2. You have done a great job with the sponsors image Jo and incorporated the Spellbinder cogs beautifully - I could see you enjoyed playing with them on C&C.

    Have a good weekend.

  4. I wasn't sure whether I would get much use from the cogs as I have the Sprightly Sockets set already but this has now given me some ideas so thank you so much Jo. Regards Jackie D

  6. Hi jo what a great male card I don't do digital crafting but this would look great with any male image really!! I'm like jackie and didn't buy the cogs set as I have the sprightly sprockets so I would adapt it to use these. Thanks for the inspiration love Lesley x

  10. Jo,

PLEASE HELP. I have just bought the Grand Caliber and my first set of spellbinders dies. I was very hesitant to try them out and when I did the cut went ok, but when I took them out from being embossed, the die and card stuck to the tan embossing mat. It was so difficult to get it off. What did I do wrong. Rachelx

Would appreciate any other advice too.

    1. You didn't do anything wrong. When the tan may is new this often happens if u dust it with talcum powder before u use it that will help. Mine still goes through phases of sticking but it's not a problem. Keep going and you'll get hooked on spellbinders- I know I am. Have fun x
